Location and introduction of Brahmanbaria Government Women's College

This well-regarded college stands on 2 acres and 80 decimals of land on District Sadar Hospital Road in Brahmanbaria Sadar — one of the best-known and most central spots in Brahmanbaria Sadar. On 31 October 1963 Mr M M Noor-un-Nabi Chowdhury came as administrator of the Brahmanbaria subdivision, and he planned a separate college for the higher education of girls. With the cooperation and advice of other social workers, the work of building the college then began in earnest. Two houses in front of the then subdivision hospital were bought for the college. On 16 August 1964 the late Minnat Ali — a distinguished writer of fiction and a professor of Bengali at Brahmanbaria College — was appointed principal, and academic work began from the 1964–65 academic year. On the advice of the organising committee, classes started in a morning shift at the local Model Girls' High School with five part-time teachers and twenty students. That is how the college began its journey, and through its various activities it became well known within a short time.
